The Adult Handicap Program strives to improve the lives of over 100 area adults with disabilities by providing 30+ weeks of social/recreation activities and programs each year.

Social activities for the disabled are offered for 20 weeks from September through May on Tuesday evenings from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.  Activities include bingo, table games, square dancing, pot luck dinners, and other entertainment.  The program meets primarily in Charlotte at the Eaton Intermediate School district and occasionally at the American Legion.  During the summer, twelve weeks of bowling are offered at a local bowling alley.  It starts in mid May and concludes in August; there is usually a waiting list so register early!  Eligible persons are any developmentally disabled adult (18 years or older) residing in the Eaton County area.  Developmentally disabled adults from outlying areas, who have their own transportation, are also welcome.  No cost to participate but attendees are responsible for their own transportation.

A non-profit Christian emergency service program, prmiarily a food bank, but offers other help for family emergencies.  Provides 10 days of food in emergency situations.  Assistance with utility shut-off and deposit; medications, and medical supplies; emergency shelter, rent, or mortgage, emergency transportation, personal items, baby items, household products, budgeting, and nutrition.  Will provide food once a month.  Staffed entirely by volunteers.

Delivers one or two nutritious meals to client’s home 7 days a week, by community volunteers.  The General Federation of Women’s Clubs-Charlotte, oversees program.  Meals are prepared at Hayes Green Beach Hospital.  The noon meal includes hot entrees, while the evening meal is a sandwich.
