Eaton County United Way Board has selected Rick Garcia as the new Executive Director. “We are pleased and very excited to have Rick join us,” said Mary Touma, Board President of United Way. “Rick’s long tenure in Non-profit management particularly with United Way, will be a great asset to our organization, which we hope he’ll help grow and take Eaton County United Way to another level.”
Garcia was the previous Executive Director of United Way in St. Clair County; Vice President of Michigan Association of United Ways; Regional Midwest NCL Manager with United Way of America; and Campaign Director for United Ways in Illinois and California.
Garcia currently serves as board member for the Resolution Center, MI ALMA and is an Advisor for the Hispanic Latino Commission of Michigan and Global Michigan.
Growing up as a “Navy Brat,” Garcia was born in Iceland and lived in six countries before settling in Southern California. A graduate of California State University in Communications and Economics, Garcia has studied Journalism at the University of Chicago. He wrote a weekly column, “Do Good Corner” for the Times Herald (a Gannett Publisher) in St. Clair County.
Garcia lives with his wife Lisa and three daughters in Haslett.
Rick will be working diligently with this year’s campaign efforts along with team members Suzanne and Angie.
